Dick’s Drive-In on Capitol Hill, Seattle – Built 1955

The first Dick’s Drive-In was opened in 1954 in the Wallingford neighborhood of Seattle by Dick Spady and two partners. They sold 19-cent burgers – and it was a hit! A second location quickly followed, opened in 1955 in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle. Pictured is the Copitol Hill location – still open today!

Dicks Drive-In Capitol Hill, Seattle features the iconic design of many drive-in’s from the mid century modern era! The sign is iconic as well. In 2013, the hamburger joint was featured in a Macklemore music video for the song White Walls. Today it operates as a walk-up window to order from, and is located at 115 Broadway Ave. East Seattle, WA 98102.
