Bayview Retirement Community, Built 1961

Bayview Retirement Community was built in 1961 and features a classic Mid Century Modern Boomerang Design! The 10 story exterior balconies are lined with iconic Mid Century Breeze Blocks! Bayview Retirement Community is located on Queen Anne Hill in Seattle at 11 W Aloha St, Seattle, WA 98119.

The building was designed by John Graham & Company. John Graham Jr was practicing at the time. He designed the Westin Hotel Seattle, and the Northgate Mall in Seattle – one of the early enclosed mall shopping centers. In 1961, he designed the first revolving restaurant atop the Ala Moana Shopping Center in Honolulu – the “La Ronde.” In 1964 he won a patent for his “La Ronde.” His “La Ronde” design was clearly used in the Seattle Space Needle, where he was one of several architects working on the design of the iconic structure.
